Thierry Poirier

Materials & Processes Expert, Ceramics & Glasses

With over thirty years of experience covering the entire industrial ceramics, refractories, glass, enamel, and mineral binder supply chain, Thierry Poirier assists manufacturers in improving the reliability of their processes, optimizing product performance, and resolving complex production challenges. A university professor (USB – Caracas, Venezuela), he is the author of more than 50 scientific publications and has led numerous applied R&D projects: thermal spraying , geopolymer development, improving the cavitation resistance of hydroelectric turbines, optimizing atomization processes for tile manufacturing, and correlating formulation, process, and properties for enamels and glass-ceramics. Returning to France in 2015, he directed the French Ceramics Institute , serving the French Confederation of Ceramic Industries. An independent consultant since 2020, he offers his expertise to companies in the non-destructive testing, ceramics, aerospace, luxury goods, and construction sectors. His consulting services encompass diagnostics, auditing, technology intelligence, and R&D support, both in France and internationally. His technology intelligence work for GRDF, in collaboration with a network of European manufacturers, equipment suppliers, and university laboratories, enabled them to anticipate the impact of using hydrogen (H₂) as fuel on the lifespan of industrial furnaces. A recipient of several awards for the quality of his teaching , he also provides continuing education and skills assessments in ceramic and glass processes (UIMM Training Center, Manufacture de Sèvres, CFA Céramique de Limoges, CTTC, IUT d'Orsay). His clear and structured teaching approach is highly valued by his clients when he assists them with complex technical issues. In February 2026, he joined the Vauban 128 network of Materials & Processes experts.
