Ronan Stephan
Research Valorization Expert
Ronan Stephan has held leadership positions throughout a career dedicated to R&D and innovation in diverse environments, both public and private, national and international, scientific and industrial. An engineer (1984) with a doctorate in science (1989), he began his career with the THOMSON-CSF group. He remained there until 1997, then took over as director of the Brest Technopole before joining the CNRS headquarters in 2003 as director of technology transfer and research valorization. From 2005, he served as president of the University of Technology of Compiègne before being appointed Director General of Research and Innovation at the Ministry of Higher Education and Research in 2009. He left these positions to join ALSTOM in 2012 as Group Innovation Director, then in November 2015, GENERAL ELECTRIC Global Research as Chief Scientist, and in 2016 PLASTIC OMNIUM as Group Scientific Director until his departure in 2020. He has chaired several boards of directors of public higher education and research institutions. He is currently President of the Institute for Energy Transition "France Énergies Marines".
