Jean-Paul Gaufillet

Materials & Processes Expert – Laser Processes & 3D Printing

Jean-Paul Gaufillet is an opto-mechanical engineer and expert in laser technologies applied to industrial processes and materials processing . A long-time player in industrial innovation, he directed one of the first Technology Transfer Centers in France, playing a key role in the transition from research to industrialization. He has led and structured large-scale European projects, particularly in the fields of large-scale metal 3D printing and ultra-high-precision laser machining . He also initiated the creation of a joint laboratory with the University of Strasbourg, strengthening synergies between academic research and industry. A committed entrepreneur in industrial transformation, he is a founding associate member of the Carnot MICA Institute and holds national responsibilities within the Laser and Processes Club , where he is Vice-President and Treasurer. A specialist in technology transfer, he supports companies in the development, industrialization, and market launch of disruptive innovations. A business angel and founder of deeptech startups, Jean-Paul has founded and supported several cutting-edge industrial companies. In 2019, he created a Cooperative Society of Collective Interest (SCIC) dedicated to technology transfer, which he chaired until the end of 2025, with the ambition of accelerating the competitiveness and transformation of industrial SMEs. In 2026, Jean-Paul will join the Materials & Processes expert pool at Vauban 128 and will contribute his expertise to technological intelligence and the valuation of scientific and technological assets.
