Christophe Binetruy

Organic Composite Materials Expert

Christophe Binetruy is a Professor at Centrale Nantes, specializing in organic composite materials. He conducts research on the behavior of constituents (fibers, reinforcements, and polymer matrices) and composites in use. His work also focuses on the study, modeling, and numerical simulation of manufacturing processes for parts made of composite and polymer materials. He has been Vice-President of Nantes University in charge of entrepreneurship since 2022. He holds an engineering degree (ENSAIT, 1992), a Master's degree (University of Valenciennes, 1992), a PhD (University of Lille, 1996), and a Habilitation to Supervise Research (University of Lille, 2002). He was a professor at the Institut Mines-Télécom Nord Europe from 1996 to 2011, before joining Centrale Nantes in 2011 as a Professor. He was Vice-President (2018-2024) and President (2024-2026) of the European Learned Society of Composites (ESCM). In 2024, he co-founded the deeptech startup Quantiflex Simulations, specializing in the numerical simulation of materials and processes. In 2026, Christophe joined the Vauban 128 network of experts in organic composite materials and the numerical modeling and simulation of polymers and composites.
